Most teaching professionals will agree upon the importance of encouraging students to think critically. Yet, even though a lot of lip service is being paid to critical thinking and creativity these days, when it comes to regularly incorporating critical thinking skills into English Language teaching, and especially at lower levels, most teachers are at a loss.
This workshop will look at how to make sure that lesson objectives progress systematically from lower to higher order thinking, regardless of the level or age of the students. We will be demonstrating an approach to developing critical thinking by adapting course book activities and emphasizes the importance of giving students ‘take away’ skills that can be applied outside the classroom and beyond the scope of language learning. Participants will also take part in critical thinking activities themselves and design critical thinking activity sequences based on the materials they use with their classes.
The fee for this workshop is 20 Euro. Discounts are available for groups of teachers from the same school. To register, please fill in the form here.
