As Fiction Express marks its 4th anniversary in Greece, we’re thrilled to extend an invitation to you for another exhilarating contest – the CoverCraft Challenge: Redesign & Reimagine! This competition is open to students from all language and private schools in Greece, whether they are already part of the Fiction Express community or planning to join during the upcoming three-month trial period.

Entry Specifications

• Read and inspire: students are required to read the selected book corresponding to their level.
• Create and redesign: drawing inspiration from the story, students must craft an original cover design and propose a new title.
• Artistic originality: the artwork must be entirely original, created by the students themselves. It should prominently feature the new title and author’s name, avoiding any resemblances to the original title or cover. Entries infringing upon intellectual property rights will be disqualified.
• File submission: all entries must be submitted in PDF, JPG, or PNG formats.
• Include student details: ensure students include their name, class, age, and school when submitting their work.
• Submission deadline: email students’ entries to info@thestudyrooms.org with the subject “CoverCraft Challenge: Redesign & Reimagine Contest” before 18th March 2024, 21:00.
• Stay Connected: Follow us on social media to stay updated. Entries will be showcased on 26th March at 20:00.

Books per Level:

Level A2 – Art Attack
Robbie’s great-aunt Stella is an inventor, and when she goes to live in the Happy Days Care Home, she decides to invent something to make her new friends’ lives more interesting. But now Desmond and Peggy cannot be found, and Stella’s invention is the reason for their disappearance…

Level B1/B2 – The Missing Hour
The beautiful house in town has finally been sold, but the new owners are said to be strange. Why is the place so still and silent by day and so noisy at night? Friends Brianna, Sasha and Benito decide to spy on the house, but their questions are far from resolved, and time itself becomes a mystery…

Level C1/C2 – The Funland Fiasco
It’s Jack’s birthday, and that should mean a mega gaming session with his best friend Milo. But plans change, and Jack has to look after his little sister Maisie. Luckily, Milo has an idea – a day at Funland theme park. But looking after Maisie is totally at odds with with riding mega rollercoasters. Will Jack have a birthday to remember for all the right or all the wrong reasons?

Choosing the Winners

The judging committee comprises the book authors, the Head of Fiction Express, and the Head of the Study Rooms. All entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Overall Design (40%): Effective utilization of design elements, including colors, imagery, typography, and space.
• Creativity and Originality (40%): Assessment of a striking cover design, an imaginative concept, and a unique interpretation of the book. Distinct from the current book cover design.
• Audience Impact (20%): Social media reactions will contribute to this aspect.

Involve Your Community! Encourage your school community to engage by liking or loving your students’ entries until 28th March 2024, 18:00.

Winners will be announced on 30th March 2024 at 19:00.
